    Content package for interactive whiteboards:Individual media related to „Air, wind, and weather“ are compiled here in a meaningful didactic way for teaching using an interactive whiteboard. All media in the content package for the interactive whiteboards are included in this self-extracting file. The content package can be started simply by clicking the “.exe" file. The content package is designed for use in elementary school. It consists of the following individual media:• 1 graphic evoking associations with the topic of air (cover image)• 1 photo of a historic airplane • 1 photo collage on the topic of air pollution• 2 interactive graphics that can be used to work through the parts of an airplane and the respiratory organs.• 4 interactive exercises (matching exercises): “What can fly and what cannot fly?", “How do plant seeds fly?", “Cyclones and winds," and one related to the Beaufort scale• 4 information sheets on the topics of cyclones, wind forces (with answer sheet), history of aviation, and air and weather• 1 worksheet in which students deal with objects, plants, and animals that can fly.• 3 sets of experimentation instructions (each with a teaching method for teachers) on the topics of the properties of air, how respiration works, and weather observation• 1 link listInformation and ideas:The media in the content package are also available as individual media on the media portal.

    Experimentation instructions for Experimento | 8+:Background information on the content and practical information on conducting the “Air pollution” experiment, which comprises two subexperiments.The teacher instructions include information on the following: the main question, relevance to the curriculum, skills, notes on conducting the subexperiments, the research group, further research assignments, the reference to technology, and the reference to values.The experiment comprises two subexperiments:• A combustion process needs oxygen • Air pollutionThe students will examine the topic of air pollution and gain insight into what can cause air pollution.     Sound from a bottle as basic principle
    Photo: An air column which vibrates having been stimulated by blowing is the most basic principle of sound production which any child can try out.Sound is defined as the mechanical vibration of material which lies in the audible frequency range of human beings. As the perception of sound always occurs via the air (except in special medical cases), "sound from a bottle" is in a way the most basic principle of sound production:Blowing into the opening of a bottle causes pressure vibrations which excite the air column in the bottle, causing it to vibrate. These vibrations then propagate in the form of sound waves through the air and are thus directly perceived. Information and ideas:In the standard experiments involving solid body vibrations with elastic bands etc, the vibrations are first transmitted to the molecules in the air and are thus, so to speak, only indirectly audible. In the bottle experiment, sound production and propagation occur in the same medium. As transmission through the air is indispensable for the human sense of hearing, it is sensible from a pedagogical standpoint, to begin with vibrating air as a source of sound. Extensions to the experiment:- Fill a test tube with little polystyrene balls and then blow over the opening.The students can then observe, that the polystyrene balls move.- Fill bottle with water: How does the tone change at different water levels?     Experimentation instructions for Experimento | 8+:Detailed instructions and questions for students on conducting the subexperiment “B3 Air pollution – Air pollution.”A short introductory text presents the experiment to the students. Then the research question is stated.The students make guesses and exchange ideas about possible solutions. This is followed by a list of the required materials as well as clear, step-by-step instructions for setting up and conducting the experiment in the small group. Observation questions for checking the results can be answered right on the instructions.There are also reflection questions for evaluating and incorporating the experiment and establishing the reference to the opening question.     Printable worksheet:Technical applications as a supplement to subexperiment 2 “Air pollution” of the experimentation instructions for Experimento | 8+ “B3 Air pollution.”The work assignment includes three photos: Two photos show an application with everyday relevance. The third photo is intended as a further idea. Specific work assignments guide the students in examining the technologies shown, provided that this is possible for the students in the lower grades.Information and ideas:• The text in the information sheet of the same name provides help in finding the answer. It also includes a lot of additional information.• The answer can be found in the answer sheet of the same name.These work assignments are designed to open a window to technology within the context of Experimento | 8+. The teacher and students should together go into more detail about technologies that are addressed in the experiments or develop the basic principles of the technical applications shown in the photos in order to reflect on and transfer the scientific knowledge gained in the experiment. Because technology is not a central learning objective of Experimento | 8+, the students are encouraged to examine the technology that surrounds them, but they should not be instructed to carry out extensive research to find a solution. The latter also cannot be expected of the students due to the complexity of the technical applications shown.
